East Grand Rapids Public School District

The acclaimed East Grand Rapids School District, located just east of Grand Rapids in Kent County, includes one high school, one middle school and three elementary schools and serves a population of approximately 3000 students. They are a powerhouse district both academically and athletically - their small student body not withstanding.

East Grand Rapids elementary schools have received multiple State of Michigan Golden Apple Awards for excellence in student achievement.  East Grand Rapids high school has more National Merit scholars than any other public school its size in Michigan. Plus at last count, EGR High had won 117 athletic state championships (a Lower Peninsula record). The schools rank high in both state and national standings. East Grand Rapids High ranked 15th in Michigan high schools overall and was listed in US News and World Report top high schools in the nation. And ranked within the top 500 high schools nationwide in Newsweek

In the 2010-2011 school year, all the East Grand Rapids schools met or exceeded state and federal standards (see the Annual Education Report Summary). The annual MEAP shows that EGR schools met even the difficult federal AYP standards. During the same school year, 79% of EGR high school AP students scored a 3 or higher on the national tests. The class of 2011's ACT composite score was 24.4 for all four subjects, and their SAT writing/reading/math average scores were 583/573/599 for an 1755 composite score. 95% of graduating seniors go on to colleges all over the nation.
