Grandville Michigan is one of the oldest suburbs of Grand Rapids. It’s located in Kent County, with a population of more than 16,000 people. It covers an area of almost eight square miles.

The community was geographically important during historic logging years because of the bend in the Grand River. Watchers were stationed along the bend to make sure the logs did not jam up as they moved along towards Grand Haven.

The price of a median single family home in 2009 was $162,410. Townhouses had a median value of $151,471. Housing values and sales have followed the national trends.

Grandville has an active park system with eleven established parks in the area. Features include sport facilities, walking trails, play areas, farm buildings and a privately operated riverboat called the Grand Lady which offers river cruises. Retirees have three facilities available in the Grandville area and an excellent bus system for transportation with three separate bus options. Numerous activities, classes and group trips are ongoing.

Lake Michigan is minutes away, offering waves and deep waters for boating, swimming and skiing. Charming seaside villages feature quaint shops, restaurants and historic attractions.

It’s a short drive to downtown Grand Rapids where an array of cultural and entertainment activities are in constant motion, including the Grand Rapids Symphony, Opera Grand Rapids, St. Cecilia Music Society and Grand Rapids Ballet. Theater lovers can choose from the Grand Rapids Civic Theatre, Actor's Theater, Circle Theater, Heritage Theatre Group and Broadway Theater Guild offering every type of show from comedy to drama to musical.

Quality medical care is available at four major medical centers in the greater Grand Rapids area. There is a broad economic base consisting of manufacturing, service and retail sectors expanding the greater Grand Rapids economy. Greater Grand Rapids is an excellent place to start a business and continues its tradition as a noted center for furniture manufacturing with famed makers of office furnishings such as Steelcase, Haworth and Herman Miller calling the area home. Fortune magazine named Grand Rapids the "tenth best city for business in the US" with access to a thriving region of more than a million people.


The Grandville school system has seven elementary schools, one middle school and one high school. Sports are an active part of school and after-school life with a dedicated web page to keep residents up to date on the Grandville Bulldogs activities.
