The Forest Hills area is most commonly associated with the Forest Hills Public Schools district which serves the area. The Forest Hills area has experienced significant growth since the 1950s when various small rural school districts were cobbled together to form a unified district, which now ranks as one of the best public school districts in the state of Michigan.
Today, the Forest Hills district has grown to serve over 10,000 students and includes 18 school buildings, a fine arts center, an aquatic building and senior center, and many more buildings to service our residents, families, students and staff. The Forest Hills district is one of the largest geographic districts in Michigan, as it encompasses approximately 68 square miles.
Although Forest Hills serves over 10,000 students, the public school system prides itself on small class sizes. The student to teacher ratio is typically 25:1 or less. Moderately-sized schools with manageable size classrooms help the district feel smaller and enable it to stay more connected with the community.
